The Green Heron Art Center Exposé

The Green Heron Arts Center, located at 111 3rd Avenue, is a pearl of Radford, Virginia. The Green Heron is open Tuesday 10 AM to 5 PM, Wednesday through Friday 10 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 3 PM, and Sunday 10 AM to 2 PM. This shop is dedicated to making Radford a more art conscious place and has jewelry, art pieces, and body care products for sale. They even offer art classes!

When you walk to the store, which is conveniently next to a large public parking lot, you immediately get a vibe of uniqueness and vibrance. “The Green Heron” is displayed on the large glass window in modern font, along with brandishes of some of the treasures waiting inside.

A bell announces your entrance as you walk into The Green Heron. The owner of the shop, Lauri, tends the shop along with her daughter, Zoey. They are very friendly and are always ready to help if you are looking for something in particular.

The walls are decorated with paintings and photography from local artists. There are also all types of necklaces, earrings, and bracelets for sale. It is really easy to find something for everyone!

Students from Radford University make up many of the artists who have their pieces featured in The Green Heron. If you are a local artist that is interested in selling some of your work, you can talk to the owner, Lauri, about selling it in The Green Heron. One of the best ways to share your talent is to make others happy with allowing them to buy your work!

The Green Heron has been in the business of making Radford a better place. They have sponsored many events, like the Craft and Draft in October 2015, which was a great success. The Green Heron Art Center is a great organization and would be a perfect place to take your friends and family to really introduce them to Radford’s culture. Check it out online at, like their page on Facebook, or just stop in for a visit!
